Leawood Golf Courses

Leawood, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, is located just west of the Kansas/Missouri state line and just east of Overland Park, Kansas. The city of around 32,000 residents offers a number of attractions, including a variety of challenging Leawood golf courses--all within a short drive of downtown Kansas City.

  • Ironhorse Golf Club - Rated one of the top public golf courses in the United States, Ironhorse Golf Club has also received a four-star rating from Golf Digest magazine. The course, located just west of the Kansas-Missouri state line, boasts rolling fairways and challenging greens. Facilities at Ironhorse Golf Club include a golf shop, a large clubhouse with a banquet room and a grill.
  • Leawood South Country Club - One of the most prestigious Leawood golf courses, Leawood South Country Club opened in 1969 and features a scenic and challenging 18-hole, par 71, 6,664-yard course, designed by course architect Bob Dunning. Facilities at Leawood South Country Club include an outdoor swimming pool complex, tennis courts, two restaurants and a clubhouse.
  • Hallbrook Country Club - Hallbrook Country Club sits on land that was once part of the Hall (of Hallmark company fame) family estate and is one of the most elegant and prestigious of Leawood’s golf courses. The club's 6,938-yard course, opened in 1988, was designed by Tom Fazio and features a meandering creek, native Kansas prairie grasses and a dramatic elevation change. Facilities at the elegant club include tennis courts, a 1,200-square-foot fitness club, an outdoor swimming pool, two restaurants and a banquet hall that can accommodate up to 400 guests.
  • Indian Hills Country Club - Indian Hills Country Club, founded in 1919, is the oldest of the Mission Hills golf courses. The 130-acre site of this premium Kansas City area golf club features an 18-hole, par 70 course designed in 1927 by famed New York City golf architect, A. W. Tillinghast. Though the course has been updated and carefully maintained, the layout of the holes is just as Tillinghast designed it. Indian Hills hosts many amateur and professional events throughout the year, including a variety of USGA qualifying events. Facilities at Indian Hills Country Club include an outdoor swimming pool and a large clubhouse with two dining rooms, a fitness center and a pro shop.
  • Kansas City Country Club - Located in nearby Mission Hills, Kansas City Country Club was founded in 1896, making it the third oldest country club west of the Mississippi River. The 18-hole, 6,822-yard, tree-lined course was originally designed by A.W. Tillinghast and later updated by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. One of the club's most famous members is golf champion Tom Watson, whose father still holds the club's amateur record. Facilities at the Kansas City Country Club include tennis courts, a large swimming pool complex, a fitness complex and three dining rooms.
  • Mission Hills Country Club - Home to another Mission Hills golf course, Mission Hills Country Club was founded in 1914 and features a classic, tree-lined, 6,454-yard course which challenges both experienced players and those new to the game. Facilities at the private Mission Hills Country Club include a large outdoor swimming pool complex, two dining rooms, tennis courts, a fitness room and a banquet hall.
  • Oak Country Golf Course - Located just outside of Leawood in De Soto, Kansas, the public Oak Country Golf Course offers "golf at a great value." The course, which opened in 1997, features a host of water features, including one of the most scenic water holes in the greater Kansas City area. Oak Country offers senior, junior, weekday and twilight discounts.
